I too wish there were some pictures. Thank you, suz 50, for your story and for reminding us that you get what you pay for. Sorry you had to go through that, and glad it was remedied so nicely!!Was glad to read about the store- bought color possibly turning hair to GREEN. A little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing!
I am forwarding this on to my daughter-in -law who says she looks like Pepe Le Peu today! But I know she will get it fixed!

Gina: Thank you so much for the compliment, and most of all for visiting. I am at the point right now where I can’t get enough of these denim jeans and I want more and more. When I find a pair that fits (however rare), I want to scoop it up in case I never find another pair.

Trying on these babies still sucks though. It’s the fat stuffing problems – but the stretchy denim helps. I hate the alteration costs too. But, it just feels so nice though – to be out of the polys.

You sure have a wonderful sense of humor – I giggled when you were describing trying the jeans. I have been there myself, and let me tell you wow, suck in the gut. Happy to know you have a new look. The price of some jeans are ridicules, and it was a good tip to go to the second hand. Once again, you really made me laugh at this story.

Thanks so much, Sue. This article was so much fun to write, and I laughed the whole time, even remembering my first apartment and the tap dancers. If I can laugh or smile while I am writing, then I know it will be a successful article.

When I write my articles though, I write them for me first, meaning, I want them to be clean. Why do you even need profanity to describe a situation? As for Tarzan & Jane – they were quite a pair – but just think – it made a good story. But at the time it was a pain in the neck!

Hey, I am so sorry it took me so long to come over and read this. OMG, I loved it. However I felt so sorry for you. I’m trying to recall if I’ve ever come across any Chatty Cathy’s in an ER setting. Hmmm. Although, SO many in real life. I, like you, definitely seem to attract them!

I’m glad you managed to get away from her but the absolute irony of her having problems with migraines and you being there for one! I know with mine…GAH! The last thing you want to do (especially if they are really bad) is talk to someone!

Dear Sir/Madam
I just don’t think that companies that need people that want to work from home and are trying really hard to make an income for two reasons: 1) their unable to get a job because of medical problems and they have no money at all coming in or they have no checking/savings account but the companies want that person to pay a upfront fee. Which they should allow that person to work for their company and subtract the fee from their 1st pay check.

My reason for my out spoken words is because I’ve been taking care of my father (with colon cancer) and I’m also taking care of my fiance (who’s had two heart attacks with in the last 1month in a half and neither one of them can be home alone. And I’m desperately trying to find a work from home business where I don’t have to pay a up front fee right off the bat!

So very true. Glad you brought up the point up about us being on lists; that is why I receive envelopes in my mailbox for credit cards and lines of credit apps and cemetary planning for ‘my time of death’. They are watching us.

It is sort of nerve wracking these days thinking that you are constantly watched everywhere you go. They have our names on lists, our houses are visable from the satallites in the sky, and pretty much anything we do is public domain! And, there are times when I rethink what I am doing to consider if anything could be misconstrued as doing something wrong…LOL.

Catmoves: I love the piggie too! Taking your own mag, as well as, knitting is a good idea too. (Well, maybe not knitting for the guys). A whole sweater could be knitted during these visits.

That is hilarious! One of the docs I visit has a small cental waiting area (other docs are also in practice down the hall share), and their mags consist of mostly “Field & Stream”, “Sports Illustrated”, “Popular Mechanics” and for the ladies – “Cosmo”. Geez, nice if you’re a chick and 20 years old. Gender biased or what!

That smiling pig on the side panel is great.
Doctors waiting rooms are not great. BOTH of their waiting rooms. Since I use the VA for my health care, I think I’ve become the terror of the various clinics there. One hour is all I give them. If I’m not in the second room by then, I leave, telling the receptionist to call me and make another appointment.
(I’ve also been known to take a mag with me into the second room.)

My favorite are the church sales, mainly because they are for a good cause and also because they are mostly indoors.

But….as you said…..the dust factor, and I’ve learned to pick what I know will only gather dust a year from now, instead of 6 months like I used to do!

Well, on the weird sucking sound, I’ve really never seen anyone doing that. Honestly, I’ve only seen people using a toothpick how they were meant to be used.

I see it a lot in cartoonss though. But with lolipops. I shall christen that “The Lolipop Theory”.

This article was not meant as a “security guard bashing”, but rather an incident that happened to me. As far as society goes, people possibly do perceive other people’s occupations other than what they are. Take me for an example – I am a debt collector – can you imagine what they think about my profession?

Good question, would he truely have risked life and limb to protect you?
I’d probably have to say, yes! Why, because that’s what he’s there to do. Regardless of his wages, size or appearance, he’d put his life on the line to protect you in the event a incident occured. To add a little to this as a Security Director, I can also assure you that even though he walked away or disappeared as you stated, he was still aware of your presence and fears and he probably relayed this information to other officers whom you did not see. This information was also given to the officer in the dispatch center, whom I’m sure was monitoring you and the area on CCTV. Just because you don’t see Security, does not constitute that they do not see you.
As for his 90 pound frame, maybe it would have made you feel safer had he been 6’6, and 250. Size doesn’t make a good security officer, the ability to think and react quickly to identify and resolve situations before they occur makes a great security officer.
Recently I read a book written by a Security specialist and it was full of real life on the job stories by men and women whom work security. In this book there are many stories about people just like you, people whom unknowingly sterotype security because they are at best uninformed about security and it’s function in our society. Hollywoods stereotypes have made a mockery of hard working officers who would gladly put their life on the line to protect you. The question should have been, should he risk life and limb to protect you? The answer, still yes.
In the event you do want to know what security officers think about you, society, and how they do their job. The books name is “Observe and Report” Behind the scenes with Security.

No doubt to look tough. It’s the only time that these men can think and feel like they’re some kind of gangsters who can beat the c**p out of anybody. Without the toothpick hanging out of their mouths, they just look like boring office workers. These people probably have the whole collection of Godfather and other gangster movies in their homes.

I’ll count my lucky stars if I stumble upon one that merely lets the toothpick hang out and not accompanied by some weird sucking sounds.
